Here are the instructions on how to make it:-
1) Take a 6x6" card blank.
2) Cut a piece of pattern cardstock down to 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" for your backing card.
3) Take another piece of contrasting patterned cardstock and cut down to 5" x 12".
4) On the reverse of this 5"x12" piece of cardstock, score at 1", 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3", 4", 4 1/2", 7 1/2", 8", 9", 10 1/2" & at 11".
5) Mark at 2" & 3" along short edge on the left hand side (LHS) and on the right hand side (RHS).
6) Mark at 5 1/2" & at 6 1/2" along the long edge on the top and bottom
7) Using a ruler, draw a straight line connecting the 2" LHS mark with the top 5 1/2" mark.
8) Using a ruler, draw a straight line connecting the 2" RHS mark with the top 6 1/2" mark.
9) Using a ruler, draw a straight line connecting the 3" LHS mark with the bottom 5 1/2" mark.
10) Using a ruler, draw a straight line connecting the 3" RHS mark with the bottom 6 1/2" mark so you end up with almost a diamond shape:-
11) Cut along all four lines - to cut the corners off:-
12) Once you have removed the corners you should be left with this:-
13) Start folding along the score lines, beginning with a Mountain fold for the first score line, followed by a valley fold for the 2nd line, then a mountain fold, then a valley fold, then a mountain fold, and then a valley fold - which should take you up the the centre section of the card.
14) Repeat this fold sequence from the RHS into the centre. If you flip your card over, it should look a bit like this:-
15) Now, add little pieces of double sided tape in the half inch folds like this:-
16) And then peel off the backing and stick the folds into place. Your card will start to fold in on itself:-
17) To counter this, stick a piece of strong double sided tape on the back across the middle like this:-
18) Now stick this piece (pattern side up) onto your backing card:-
19) Now stick the whole thing onto your card blank:-
20) Cut a strip that is 1"x6" from some dark coloured card and another strip (3/4"x6") out of pattern cardstock. Matt and layer these on top of each other and then stick across front of pleated card:-
21) Now it's time to embellish as you wish! I used a First Edition Doily Die to cut a doily shape, and then teamed it up with a die cut scalloped edge circle and a simple greeting:-
Hope you enjoy making this card!!!
You also need to score at 9 1/2". Once that was done, it worked out perfectly. Thanks for that. Your clear instructions made it very easy.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that! I'm not very good at writing out instructions!!! I'm better at showing people in real life!!!
